Can you freeze kale How to properly freeze kale INSTRUCTIONS
Can you freeze kale?
Can kale be frozen? As much as possible! How to do it? A few years ago, many people had not even heard of kale. It has recently become very popular because it is a very healthy vegetable. It is extremely easy to freeze.
Kale is high in vitamins A and C, high in potassium, iron, calcium and folic acid, high in phytochemicals, and high in lutein, which is great for protecting eyesight.
How to freeze kale?
Fresh kale can be stored in a plastic bag even a few days in the refrigerator. Kale can also be frozen. First, you need to thoroughly rinse the kale leaves. It is recommended to rinse the vegetables 2 to 3 times. Then carefully dry the leaves with a lettuce dryer or a cloth made of cotton. Tear the leaves into smaller pieces and get rid of the thick leaf veins (you don’t have to tear the leaves into pieces – at your discretion). Then place the dried leaves in a plastic bag (ziplock bag or freezer bag). Do not stuff or crush the leaves, place them quite loosely. Place the bags of kale in the freezer. Such frozen leaves are often used in smoothies.
Another way to freeze kale is to blanch it by putting it in boiling water for about 1-2 minutes. Then we mix it with a small amount of water. Pour the smoothie made from kale into muffin/muffin containers and place in the freezer. Just add one „kale muffin” to one smoothie. It is important to note that blanching before freezing does not slow down the loss of vitamins that are in kale.
